Just a note to let folks know ENEMY is nearly ready for print. I’m finishing up copy-edits (yay for my awesome copy editor who really seems to catch every single thing). I’ll have to jot up a thanks letter too, and then send the lot back to the good folks at Night Shade Books to do the work of turning the manuscript into an actual book. Reminder, it’ll be out February 21, the day before my kid’s fifteenth birthday. Considering I started writing again a few months after she was born, that’s kind of a nice neat number.
I’m told there are review ARCs available; I’ll be checking around to get some sent out to the proper folks. If you are a bona fide reviewer and you want one, please email me using the form on the site and I’ll pass the request along to the right folks. I do think it’s a book you can read without reading the earlier ones, though of course it’s meant as part of a series.
Incidentally, I’ve seen the cover and it’s my favorite of the set. Also the German covers are available online and here if you want to see. As soon as I can show off the cover for ENEMY, I’ll splash it everywhere.
I know I’m supposed to be a bit sad about finishing the SEVEN EYES series, but really I’m glad. I’ve spent a good part of twelve years working on it (eleven years ago I brought the first chapters to my brand new critique group) and I’m past the point of letting it go. ENEMY is a good book; I’m happy with it and proud as heck that it got super close to my vision for the finish to the series. My editors also like it, which makes me inordinately happy, and finishing a trilogy is an important milestone in any writing career, particularly in the fantasy genre. It’s really similar to how I feel about my kids growing up. Sure, very occasionally I miss the baby days, but mostly I’m excited to watch them find their way in the world.
The German editions start coming out in November, which is also exciting. I hope they like it and buy up many copies. 😀
I’m eager to get back to HANGED MAN full time. Some of you might’ve heard me refer to it as a mystery, but it’s really a fantasy mystery, so I’m not leaving the genre!! I’ll be speaking more on that book in a few days, and announcing a change in lifestyle to accommodate my efforts on that book.
