go bag

Another fire started in Boulder County (not a wildfire, but a house fire that spread), now 100% contained. Additionally we've had a major storm and glacial conditions and I know power is out for several folks. This might not cause you to evacuate but if you get a burst pipe it's tough to live in your home with the water turned off or the heat not working. To soothe my anxiety I messed about with my go-bag and list. I've made a list on my phone of items I'd want to take from the house in an emergency and thought ...

the long year

I've been dark most of this year. On December 30th of 2021, the most expensive and violent wildfire fueled by 110 mph sustained winds and drought conditions ripped through our town. We were fortunate enough to keep our home unlike thousands of others, however we were unfortunate enough to sustain severe smoke damage since the house was engulfed in 1600 degree smoke and ash for over six hours. For me that looks like reading the news, for instance, and discussing it face to face with family, mostly. Writing, sometimes letters. Maybe a mention ...

The best advice I got as a writer was to think about what you want from social media and go after it. Certainly never use any platform you don't like. It makes sense for me historically and personality wise. It sends Tik Tok right out of there. I had a big following on Sex Scenes at Starbucks back in the late 'Oughts, a total time suck that I might have started monetizing. I dropped it because I didn't want to be a blogger for a living. I wanted to write fiction. More lately, I dropped off FB for some years ...
